Omnichannel Retail Data Platform for Inventory and Sales Insights

Omnichannel Retail Data Platform for Inventory and Sales Insights

An omnichannel inventory and sales dashboard helps retailers keep stock and sales data consistent across stores, websites, and marketplaces. When each channel shows different numbers, teams cannot trust the data and customers experience stockouts or delays. We built a .NET-powered data layer that updates in near real time and presents clear, actionable dashboards for every role.

Challenge

  • Inconsistent stock counts: Store systems, eCommerce, and marketplaces updated at different times, which caused confusion and stockouts.
  • Poor demand signals: Slow data made forecasting weak, which led to overstock that needed heavy discounts later.
  • Limited campaign insight: Marketing could not see which promotions truly moved inventory in each region.

Solution

  • Single source of truth: We ingest updates from POS, eCommerce, and CRM into a normalized store that stays in sync within minutes.
  • Role based dashboards: Store managers, buyers, and marketers see tailored views with simple color coded alerts, for example low stock or price anomalies.
  • Decision helpers: Recommendation widgets suggest cross sells and smart markdowns based on current trends, explained in plain terms.

With our omnichannel inventory and sales dashboard, managers know exactly what to order and when to adjust prices. They also see which promotions perform best.

Implementation

  • Data pipelines with checks: We set up change data capture feeds, a schema registry to keep formats consistent, and tests for every transformation.
  • APIs for core functions: Inventory, pricing, promotions, and catalog services expose stable, secure endpoints that can be reused by web, store apps, and partners.
  • Scale without surprises: We used caching, batching, and well planned partitions by region, which keeps the system quick even on busy weekends.
  • Measured rollout: We piloted with a small group of stores, compared results to a control group, then expanded region by region.

Tech stack

  • Backend: .NET 8 Web APIs, Entity Framework Core
  • Streaming and ETL: Azure Event Hubs or Kafka, Azure Data Factory or Databricks
  • Storage: Azure SQL or SQL Server for operations, Synapse or data lake for analytics
  • Frontend and search: React or Next.js, ECharts, Redis, Azure Cognitive Search
  • Identity and BI: Azure AD, OAuth 2.0 or OIDC, Power BI Embedded
